CDA-117 or anything better?

Recommended Posts

Local shop has a guy I used to work with and he's giving me a deal for a CDA-117. $260 new with a year warranty through the shop. I can put $50 down and pay it off within 90 days.

My question is, how is the hu compared to a 9887? I heard the USB is the difference. I'm looking for the most powerful headunit with the best sound I can get. If this hu isn't it, give me your opinion. Money isn't an option really, I can work more overtime if I need to. :good:

i really like excelons now that i have one, but that's just me.

c'mon now, if i was shooting an 8 year old, it wouldnt be MY 8 year old.

i recently got a Pyle PL1590BL and i was building an enclosure for it tuned to 25 hz. i didn't have any tools to cut a circle so i hit it with a big hammer.

Idk why I said most power. Lol. Anything with 4 volt preouts or higher is fine. I'm just wanting the best sounding hu with the best quality/features I can get.

all the excelons have 3 sets of 4v preouts, they don't clip until 34/35 volume (not 100% on that, but close), and any of the 595 and up have a really cool, imo, face

Kenwood excelons are good and price and awesome units. for 280 you can probably get a 995. way better than 117 imo

I currently run the 117, but honestly, its not that great. one of the most user un-friendly units ive owned, and ive had many alpines. the usb seems slower then others aswell, and has issues linking with some units.

the cd player seems very weak aswell

in conclusion....

i was very unhappy with it after spending much time with the unit. seemed to be hyped up way more then its worth imo, and i like alpine units. this one however had me shaking my head at
