cris2216 Posted July 20, 2011 Report Share Posted July 20, 2011 i have a 2003 chevy suburban and it idles at 500 or less . is this normal and voltage is around low 13's high 12's but once i put the rpm at 1000 and up i charge at 14 to 14.5 my question is doi need a new alt or a new pulley, is this normal? bkolfo4 Posted July 20, 2011 Report Share Posted July 20, 2011 They have a set screw on them that is not really made to be an idle set - it is just a stop, but you can replace the screw with a longer one an use it as a manual idle set. That is what I did in my suburban.
