I was watching steve's videos on youtube, and watched the 15" woofer challenge, where their were three teams who had to take a 15" sub (random), and try and make the best box for it. At the end they scored based on average SPL, peak SPL, look, speed ( of build), trunk bonus, and the durability of the box.

At the end all three teams did very well, but team 1 came out on top.

while i was watching the video, i thought to myself " how cool would it be to do that?!?!?". Then i had a great, yet not very thought-out idea.

For those unlucky few, like me , who live out of state , have a challenge, as so like the 15" woofer challenge. This is where the "not thought-out" part of my thread comes out. I have no idea how you could make it work, other than maybe post videos or something. It was just a great idea, at first, when i wa thinking of it anyway .

anyone else think this could maybe be possible, and would be fun? I don't know about you but i think that would make my day doing a contest like that FTW!

I actually did think this out for a bit, and this would involve Steve instilling a great amount of trust into a shop or someone to hold the contest with no bias whatsoever. I would love for it to happen, but here on the east coast, I think it's doubtful, unless it were to happen with Chode or PCA.

X2...and it would also be hard for people like me.. who have no shops around for hours.. so yeah he would have to put alot of trust into people.... maybe just like one person alone... from different states and just take alot of videos of, whatever the "challenge" could be

Either send in videos, or have the person whom he trusted to represent SMD in this "challenge" independently make the decision on the winner.

Problem with it is...whos going to fund it? Steve paid for the wood and shit for that project or atleast put a good amount of $$ into it and audio saving IIRC supplied the woofers. Sure these contests are cool...but thats why they're cool, they only happen once in a while. You may be far away, but you could have made the drive if you were that interested.

And as for you doing the project out of your car or some shit......far too many douchebags to trust and far too many variables (including the car) to get a fair competition.

i live in South Dakota o_O.. lol and im 16 so my parents i don't think.. would let me haha, but i would have no problem paying for the wood and some stuff, you cant make steve pay for everything! i just think it would be really cool, even if their weren't prizes i would still be happy to take place in the competition

I would have loved to make a coast to coast drive, but honestly, fuck the economy lol. As Steve said in the first video, this is his first time doing anything like this, and is looking for ways to improve. This is just an idea. And hopefully it'll get the ball rolling on bigger and better ideas.
