Fish Chris Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Since nobody here seems to have any personal experience with Dayton HO 15"s (I had asked about them in the SQ section). From what I have heard, they are loud, and clean..... but right from the start, my biggest concern was, (especially with such a relatively small X-max), would they play LOW ?.... like 24hz low... with authority ? I'm going to be running two of them, in 7.5 cubes net. I was thinking about tuning them to 35 hz..... + 24hz, with port extensions added. corey0928 Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Should do decent with a 24 Hz fs but if you want lows then you have to tune low. Just because a sub can play low doesn't mean you can throw it in a box tuned to 40 and its going to play decently down to 20 without problems or failures

I just found out that my 3 ports, and couplers (and hoping I don't need three 6" elbows also) are going to cost me about $150 ! I can cut that in half by going with 6" pvc instead.... but then I have to paint it.... then if it gets scratched (which it will, shoving the extensions on, and pulling them off.... urggg....) Always a freaking money thing, huh ? Peace, Fish 7.5ft^3 with a 25hz tuning will work great.

That'll still give you a good little peak without killing your low-end.
