SPLadd1ct Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 These numbers are from my buddy Chris (kickassaudio here on SMD). He runs two Massive Audio DB8000.1's strapped to an SMD 18. The clamp results he achieved are below. Wired to .5 ohms resting: 30Hz track, 2794.5 watts at 1.38 ohms after rise 35Hz track, 3431.85 watts at 2.03 ohms after rise 40Hz track, 4843.3 watts at 1.368 ohms after rise 45Hz track, 5127.15 watts at 1.16 ohms after rise __________________________________________ wired to 2 ohms resting: 30Hz track, 612.5 watts at 6.4 ohms after rise 35Hz track, 762.3 watts at 9.41 ohms after rise 40Hz track, 1470 watts at 6.53 ohms after rise 45Hz track, 2208.4 watts at 4.48 ohms after rise. Take notice to the two lines I highlighted in bold above. Why is it that at 30 and 40 hertz the impedances are nearly identical, but a 40 hertz burp yields over 2000 watts rms more? Can someone please explain this phenomenon to me? CJ18 Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 On the 30hz track the amps and volts were just lower than at 40hz. It just happens that when you divided volts by amps in both cases that it came out to similar reactive ohm loads but when you multiple the larger numbers together you obviously get more power.
