georgiaspl Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 What exactly is BL? Is it strictly motor strength or is it how well the motor and voice coil work together? Also assuming 2 subs can handle the same power and there xmax's are equal would the sub with the higher BL have the potential to be much louder?

Think of this as how good a weightlifter the transducer is. A measured mass is applied to the cone forcing it back while the current required for the motor to force the mass back is measured.
