How to calculate center port

Recommended Posts

Hey, I am thinking about doing a new box for 2 sundown nightshade 15s in the trunk of my maxima "subs/port firing forward sealed off from trunk". I've been messing with numbers trying to get around 100 sq inches of port, tune to 32 hz, and keep it around 6 to 6.5 cubes, but i am wanting a center slot "L" port and cant figure out how to calculate it when its in the center. To give you an idea of my trunk, i cant go past 40 inches wide, 17.5 tall, or 28 depth and i will be using mdf wood, double baffle, woofer displacement is .2 per woofer, and i plan to just glass the whole box on the inside and use the center port as the bracing. Any help would be appreciated

to calculate a center port you would measure down the center of the port from the front to 1/2 into the bend and then from that point to the end of the wood.

Just measure down the center, even if it turns 15x, keep measuring down the center and you can't mess it up

Think of it this way, if your port was 3" wide, each 90deg bend would have 3" of length in the bend, then add the length of the walls for total length

On other words, with a 7.5" port that's 33" long, you should have 25.5" of inside port wall length(with one 90deg bend) if using a side of the box and front or rear as the outer port wall
