So are there any other amps that put out 1000 watts and stable @ 3ohm for under $400? Buy a 500/1. That amp will be more than enough to beat the hell out of that sub...especially in a pickup. The difference in output between the 1000/1 & 500/1 will probably be inaudible. I've never heard a difference that justified the $500 price difference between those amps. Actually, I don't think I heard any difference. Lastly, the W7's used to be rated @ 750w and not 1000w. I think your friend will be more than happy with the 500/1 & W7 combo.
