Sonoma Hillbillie box build

Recommended Posts

I have never designed and made my own box before so this was a shot in the dark, I used Torres calculator and what FEW tools I had around the house.

This is the most unprofessional box I have seen in person.. It is built to spec but it is VERY rough around the edges at the moment (needs sanded).

Tools used:

Dremel with a multipurpose cutting tool (POS)

Reciprocating saw

Table saw

Screw gun

started to rain when I was almost done cutting and I was NOT stopping! lol

Updated the second post... Once again guys ANY help is GREATLY appreciated...

EDIT: I think I fucked the port up... the actual port size is 11.5x4x4.5 which brings me to 82.66Hz.....god dammit!

Next question is how do I calculate in a flared port? Id like to redo the front and go with 1 4" long aero port with a 3" diameter.

Torres Calculator shows that would set me at 41.91Hz but I dont know if that factors in the flare..

im aiming for 40hz but 41.9 is a hell of allot better than 82 Hz.......noob.gif

As for why is sounds horrible i'll try to make a list of things to do correctly next time around.

1. Port area, more!

2. Cutting the box, better!

3. That port is NOT 4"x4.5", what happened there? :trippy:

4. Puppy, not given enough scratchin!

i resolve to be a nicer moderator.
