Finding my woofers "recommended" enclosure size!

Okay so I have a pair of 2 12inch Hifonic brutus BRZ12D4 subwoofers.

Right now they are in a prefab, and while they sound good... I WANT MORE.

ONLY THING I COULD FIND ON THEM (I bought them used because im a brokemofo) was on sonicelectronix.

1 ft cubed sealed

1.25 ft cube ported.

I even checked on HIFONICS site. :/ Nothing there.

Now that just DOES NOT seem proper for a 600RMS woofer. (I have heard people run these at 1000 ALL DAY fine.)

Now while I dont like to abuse my stuff, I do like to 'push' it a little sometimes. I dont have an amp to run them that high, and thats beside the point.

What if I want bandpass? How do I find that out?

I GUESS WHAT IM ASKING IS: How can I find the "most efficient" box design for my woofers before I test them.

ALSO:

I have 2 type R 12's laying in the garage. I dont really want to sell them, infact I'd like to get another amp and install them. Is it safe to put 4 woofers (being that they are different brands) in one box?

Or would it be better to make 2 boxes? I was thinking of making two boxes anyhow, and making these SEALED for SQ anyway, since I want those hifonics to be my SPL bangers.

i wouldnt put the 2 different subs in the same box. if you do do the 2 different boxes i wouldnt make one sealed one ported you wouldnt hear any difference in sq just making your self less loud. go either both sealed or both ported. if it was me id just throw the type r's in a nice ported box and call it a day if you plan on sticking with that amp.

edit: nvm i just looked up the amp. if you plan on sticking with that amp id just hook 1 type r up in a ported box. bridge the amp hook up each channel to each voice coil on the sub. will sound way better/ louder then 2 wayy under powered subs.

I agree, use the Type R's instead.

dont mix woofers, even if they are in separate boxes. it wont work 99% of the time. you can build a ported box and the "sq" will be fine. prefab boxes make woofers sound like complete ass so you cant judge anything based on those boxes.

I plan on upgrading my amp eventually, so maybe I will just make a build for one type R for now. And yeah, my brutus's are WAY underpowered. It makes me sad. THEY SOUND GREAT NOW, I can only imagine them at their max potential.

So I guess lets REVISE the plan. Time to make a ported box for the type r. I will throw the hifonics in the garage (Or craigslist maybe). Maybe I will be fancy and make a glass'd box (lol yeah right.)

So How do you guys think I should go about this? What airspace? What kind of port? Does it really matter?

I think I want to tune around 34hz. But thats just because I love the feeling i get in my chest with those low notes!

you actually can run different woofers in the same box if they are in separate chambers. If they are all sealed off from one another there will be no cancellation. but it's kinda pointless, you should just run the type r's like everyone is suggesting

So Im still wondering if 1.25cubes is too small! What are other 600RMS woofers running for port box size?

Better question yet, If im just going to make a box for ONE type R, what kind of port and airspace? I really appreciate all the help.

I tried to use the torress calc, but im not quite to that point!
