Linear Power makes one of the best cheater amps rated at 50 watts, but throw some good voltage and it will go up to 1200-1500! Linear Power makes one of the best cheater amps rated at 50 watts, but throw some good voltage and it will go up to 1200-1500! Correct. That VLX-50 by U.S.Amps was rated at 25x2 at 4 ohms and that was all the rating they give for it. But drop it down to 1/2 ohm bridged and it would do about 1100 watts. Back in the day manufacturers were coming out with these cause the wattage classes were so different than they are now and you could run in the low wattage class and still have a lot of power. I run two of these in 0-150 modified. They started getting a little crazy with it tho, making the db sanctions change all the rules. U.S.Amps even started putting VLX-25 on this very same amp and rating it at 12.5x2 2000 zx2: Rebuild with 8 12s on a 10k underway!! MY BUILD LOG

Quiet Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 One of the first systems I built had two Orion 225 HCCA amps... rated 25x2 but bridged at 1/2 ohm would do 400 easy. 3 sets of 6.5s in the doors and kick, and 4 JL 10w1-4s (when I actually believed in JL Audio in '94... I couldn't even drive yet) in a 200 SX did 140dbs in the 0-100 class. I was damn proud but after I got paid for installing it I never got any credit. The guy told people he did the install but I overheard him talking shit to some guys at a show and you can tell no one believed him. what were we talking about again? 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.
