new guy Posted October 6, 2011 Report Share Posted October 6, 2011 i currently have a l7 15" in a 4.5 net box on a brz 1200d at 2 ohms ( about 900 rms). i was wondering if i got a level 4 12 in a good ported box would it be louder? the l7 is currently sitting in my back seat and the lvl 4 would be in the trunk facing into the cabin sealed from the trunk on 1200 rms. i know it depends on a millions things but generally would it get louder then the l7? the only reason i ask is cus the l7 has a heck alot of more cone area and it intended to get loud but with no sq and i already know the sq with the lvl 4 would just blow it out of the water but what do you think would get louder? Mha Posted October 6, 2011 Report Share Posted October 6, 2011 I have an l7 15 on hfi 2000 at 2 ohm wich should be close to 1200( I know I know hfi doesnt do rate) but it gets loud. Anyways box is like 5 cuft now at the same amp ohm load but with an xl 12 and I realy could not tell the difference. Maybe just maybe the l7 was a ittle bit louder on the same power and the xl was in a small 2cuft box wich leaves more room for other things and of course the xl can still take way more power. l7 probably not much more. And remember wonce the blow recone maybe get upgraded coils. If l7 blow, paper weight. But yea for an l7 have the cone area of an 18 it wasnt much louder the the 12 if it even was anylouder that is. And it won't be showing well until im 18 i can only haul around 1 person so seat space isnt really an issue. i was also thinking of doing 2 obsidian 12s if they can fit behind the seat. this should be a little louder right?
