PUNKYOU007 Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 I have heard that the SMD isnt even that great on the meter but it sounds REALLY good SQ wise. Im not saying it sucks on the meter but thats not its strong suit. i have yet to see someone put one to the test in an SPL environment. So far all i see is ground pounders. Lets see someone drop 30kw a couple 18's (each) in a tuned, SPL vehicle.......then we will know if its any good at SPL. The SMD typically might not do as good as some woofers because it is JUST GETTING STARTED where those other ones are getting pushed to their limits. So far i still havent seen anyone push one to its limits in a db drag vehicle. Maybe i will turn the Tercel into one. oh, sorry for the thread-jack. I am super late on this but I been busy. Fiberglassed the boxes for the front doors (and made a custom panel) Mounted the 3rd battery Started building the amp rack (the triangles are our company logo btw) More to come soon Evan Even though JL is way outta my budget for me personally, the build is starting to look epic, and I bet it's gonna sound amazing with what you're doing cause I've seen what JL is capable of, especially with those HD amps, since I've seen the HD 750/1 and the HD 600/4 in action, and I swear they never distort. I only seen them distort when my friend put his Kenwood HU om 35 outta 35, but didn't distort at 34, and that's without having a DD-1 to set the gain properly, so good choice on the amps of course.
