So I know it can't be good to short batts. . . Today I was removing fuses to install D3100 #3 when the allen wrench touched a battery hold down post which I didn't even notice (face palm fuck). My question is if it is possible that the lifespan has now been significantly reduced by a brief contact? At least the D3400 and the new D3100 weren't raped but I've got the other two on the charger and the only thing I noticed is that the voltage climbs to like 16v for a couple minutes before coming down to normal charge voltage. The XS manual clearly says to never let it go over 15.5v 5 minutes max or they will gas, could they already be FUBAR? Thanks all

Like Ray said you are perfectly fine. As long as you didnt short out the battery for like a minute or two it will be perfectly fine. I accidentally shorted out my s3400 battery on my old car when my stupid capacitor had a loose wire and moved down and grounded itself out for a second. I am still using that battery to this day and the arc occurred 2+ years ago and the battery runs nice and strong.

Yeah, Thanks guys. I was feeling pretty fucking pissed at myself but felt a lot better reading your responses :drinks: Yeah I'm convinced that a couple D3100's can do work welding! My allen wrench is definately missing a chunk :trippy:

When mine had shorted out it blasted a hole through the ring terminal and turned it green. Lol. It also blew a chunk of metal off the terminal on my cap. I can only think of how bad it would be if we didn't have fuses and shorted out a cable run. Haha
