Numatik's Bagged 2004 Silverado

Recommended Posts

Alright, I didn't take as many pictures as I should have, but took enough to understand the work I did.

First, I had to pull the back seat. Sounds simple right? Wrong. The sub box fits between the brackets by about 1/2in. So no wiggle room. The seats were lifted 4" on some C-channel steel, but the c channel was facing the sub box. So on the driver side I was able to get to the first bolt with two swivel attachments to my ratchet, and after about 15 mins I got the first bolt. The second bolt I could get to easily because it was neat the side of the c-channel. Then the passenger side took me about 45 mins just playing games trying everything possible to get the bolt. So since the seats arnt in and I may flip the c-channel around so you can easily access the seats. Nobody's gonna break in and steal the box anyway, not with my trainhorn going off the second a door is opened.... :D

Heres some before pictures, alot of things that disappointed me...

Here it is right after I pulled the seat and the face of the old Kicker 400.2.

DSCN4160.jpg

and a closer look... 3 4awg wires down, and 1 4awg wire to the left. All to amplifiers, including the 1200.1 amp!! Ugh

DSCN4161.jpg

This was kind of ugly to me too, but it is functional and isnt seen to the eyes with its all put together so I just left them as is...

DSCN4162.jpg

Im pretty bad at taking pictures as I go, once I get in the zone I just go go go go go until my body craps out, I take a break then get up and do the same exact thing. This entire install took me two days and was a good amount of work, but I had to take alot of breaks.

First, you will see below the new wire setup that I made. First, you guys will look and see there are 4 4awg runs from the distribution block, and only 3 ports on the top part of the Dblock to feed those 4 wires. I used some 2awg fosgate wire to up the power supply at the Dblock. Also I ran a second 1/0awg run from the batteries to just feed the 4 amps, the 350.4, 300.1, and 2 350.2s and the amperage is adequate. . The previous run of 1/0 is just for the 1200.1, and has open ports come anything else that needs to be powered. The square device the 1200.1s 1/0 wire is ran through is to my Autometer kobalt series gauge to measure the amperage through that line when the sub amp is on.

Here's my layout:

DSCN4155.jpg

DSCN4157.jpg

Next I started getting ready for the amp install. First,I got some fosgate rcas to run to the indash brain(the old rcas were damaged and had to cut from the box due to being fiberglassed in) Next, I had to buy (2) 3' Monster rca cables (Monster because the rest of the rcas in the truck are monster and these ones would be seen, the fosgates would not be), then I had to buy 4 barrel couplings. I had a single rca run from the indash to do the 'front' output, so I had to split it twice, plus plug them into the barrels and attach the new rcas and it was ready to rock, tape them up and ran them through the sub box. All the wiring on these amps is hidden and ran through the box.

Didnt really take any between pics, but here is the end result:

Still have to seal around the large gaps (from drilling holes for rcas) but the rest of the wires are a very snug fit through all the holes I have drilled, so thats sweet at least. Also I added a bass knob to the subs and im mounting it under the arm rest pointing towards the driver side. I'm very pleased with this install, its clean, and its fucking LOUD and CLEAR! Only thing to make this better is a rockford 360, but it will be a little while before that. Since the brain of my indash is right below the glove box, a 360 would be super easy to install and hide in the kick or above it.

Noone would be able to take the box anyway, it's probably bolted and jb welded to the floor! Nice wire job! :good:

Hahahaha seriously!!!

Haha I do not know man, especially since your the only person on this forum who has even seen it in the flesh!! I am def gonna wanna see how that SMD distortion mod works. Plus we should hang out again soon yeah?

Sounds good to me, maybe later today or saturday?

I text you and you will respond and mid conversation just dissapear for several hours or just don't reply.... If your available possibly 2marro or Monday. I'm gonna start just calling you instead of texting lol

So after taking pictures of the basic install, there was a problem. due to the way I staggered the amps, one side of the power wires would be facing the front of the truck, the amp next to it would face the rear. The driver side RCA cables got pinched by the rear seat. The power wires of the opposite amp cleared due to being mounted to a lower portion then where the rcas were. Since the amps were mounted and the wiring was done inside, the only way to fix the problem was to lift the seat. The previous owner had already lifted the seat 4", so I ended up buying some 5"x1.5" C channel and fabricated my own brackets. This took me several hours, then painted them to match. Kasey came over and gaved me a hand, and HE showed me how his SMD Distortion Detector worked 8) Cool toy Im def gonna need to pick one up . He also gave me a hand with a bunch of shit today, I appreciate it thanks man!

She? :D Pics or it never happened.

Il get on that

Nice amps bro. Looks clean. Where are the vids?

today I can barely get off the couch due to horrible pain. I'm gonna upload some pics of the new brackets and take some of them in the truck. Il get vids another day. I also smoked one of my mb quartz speakers so I'm ordering new ones and keeping one as a back up
