When do I know when I should get a second battery?

Recommended Posts

hello, I have a question, as I am still newer to car audio.

I want to know when I should get a second battery or a cap, at what watts. I have a 600 watt system right now, but at christmas time i want to upgrade the amp and subwoofers to about 1200 watts RMS. Will a need a capacitor or a second battery for this new setup? my battery right now shows no signs of having trouble taking the 600 watts RMS at all. Thank you for your help!

I wouldn't get a second battery, do the ''Big 3'', more current flow.

UNDER-CONSTRUCTION

''Old School Build''

maybe it sounds like an 18 cause theres 3 fucking "port" holes ghetto drilled in the "box"

190 db when your done?

Yea that's the lowest decibal ill be satisfied with when I'm done like I said its stage one and I lost my job u guys should consider shit instead of just talk it

lmao

You need to figure the current draw of your setup and then plan accordingly. Your stock equipment may or may not suffice, but that also depends on your stock equipment. What size alternator? What kind of wiring? And you're going to want a deep cycle battery eventually. Make sure the reserve and amperage can properly sustain voltage at acceptable levels.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

for 1200 watts rms thats going to be around a 100 amp draw.. i would do the BIG 3 upgrade..and at least get something like a kinetik hc600 or shuriken bt20 xs power d680 etc.. just so it has a little more reserve power rather than the immediate demand from the under hood battery..

capacitors dont help with anything at all..well maybe a digital volt meter but thats it... they r totallyt worthless... unless u are using like 400 watts or so and have a 1 or 2 farad cap...then yes it would help some to maintain voltage..but not much

anything over a thousand watts would get an upgraded battery like a d3400, when you go to 2000 watts i would add another battery just to have a bit more reserve, assuming you have an alternator to support those batteries

The only way to delete your SMD account is for you crawl to steve meades door step on your knees and pleade for his forgiveness and acceptance to be released...He will either grant your wishes.....or choke you with a large piece of 0 gauge and electrocute you by hooking up a solid gold DC 12k at 0.000001 ohm and 10000 volts to your eye sockets and blow your head apart

You guys act like you have never clogged a toilet and ran around the bathroom frantically hoping it don't overflow.
