sealed vs vented enlcosure

Recommended Posts

I have a 2010 T1D215 in a vented box built to spec with hfi1000.1d it hits great & sounds it to (its in a 1ohm load getting about 930 watts rms)but my buddy thinks that sealed boxes in hatch backs sounds way better and louder he wasn't knocking my stero he just thinks I should try a sealed box to see the difference but before I go buy the wood and build a box I figured I would get some advice from some guys that know there stuff

sealed boxes are no go man, poor cooling, loads of pressure, the FS matches your cabin fs but doesnt have a good peak, ported all the way or 4th order

Quality is all in how you take pictures ;) I have plenty of projects that look WAY better on camera then in person :D

crazy to fit so many in so little. Reminds me of some of the porns I've seen?

If you're going for loud ported hands down. Methinks your friend does not have much experience, and I am thinking you do not either. Sad to say, no...probably not getting anywhere close to rated with that amp. And I am curious who designed the enclosure. You say to spec....but it can not hurt to review. Not to mention speaker and port placement...

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

IMO btw,

You think having a peak frequency is a good thing? For a SPL setup, for sure, but definitely not for daily music listening...

@teamht I built the box right from every measurement outta the owners manual (with 3/4 inch mdfb) id say on almost every cut has got to be with in a 1/16 or 1/32 or the box wouldn't of went together. Im not a professional but I did run everything in my car so I wouldn't say im a complete idiot about car audio I got my figures just about the amp rms cause hifonics amps are a lil over rated but there still not to bad either

I said "who designed the enclosure" not "who assembled" the enclosure. Cheapest upgrade to make sure you get serious performance would be to get an enclosure properly designed for your goals and listening preferences. Next upgrade might be a different amplifier.
