G-Rad
Trying to remove the stock casette deck HU with the DIN removal tools. As you can see this thing is in dire need of an upgrade. I do have the ford DIN removal tools Insert the devided into the holes to remove the unit, but they're not catching anything. Apparently I am supposed to just push them in 1 1/4", or so I've read. WHen doing so, I am not noticing any random clicks or anything. Is it possible to push them in too far and damage the clips? I wouldn't think so, however I have been wrong before. Also, Could I need a different DIN tool? I noticed I did have to kida squeeze mine closer together, a little in order to get them in the holes. Sorry for such an idiot question, but this is a block in the road I never dealt with.. jokerklown
What year and model ford? Some you have to pull the tools away from each other some towards each other and in the case of my wife's 2000 windstar I took a flathead to the face and ripped it off cuz tools wouldn't work until 2 screws were taken out
Lbox88
My wife has a 2002 escape and the stereo had been taken out before, so one of the 2 clips holding it in came out of the tabs that stop it from bending out too far. 2 hours, a flat head screwdriver, and destroyed stereo later, I got it out. I had to tear apart/mutilate the face of it to see the tabs were jacked and then bend it back by hand. Quote UBL | Build Log

HatersGonnaHate
Sometimes the tools have to go in further, I had a 98 escort zx2 and I just pushed them in until they clicked, then pulled the unit out slowly. If you push in too far, it's not going to damage anything though. HatersGonnaHate
Yes indeed! If you go in too far, all it will do is slide through the retaining clip. It might take a few tries to get the tools to work, but just be patient and don't punch the original DIN.... I split my clock face doing that lol Quote My name is AdamThis is my Civic Build.7" Samsung Tab 2Kenwood KDC-X896Clarion EQS746Sundown X-15DC 3.5k @2ohmHatersGonnaHate's 02 Civic UBLELD Bypass for Honda Civic/Accord/FitDon's Jeep Grand Cherokee Rebuild N8ball2013 - i think you'd stick your dick in a blender if it told you it was 40 wtih two kids your age. lol srp365 - If posting were picking up bitches, I'd be going home single tonight looks like tony montana sneezed in your car. KenC210
After pushing them in so far you need to either spread the tool outwards or inwards together. after that it should come right out. dont worry about going to far in there isn't much behind it to hurt. edit: Spread and pull or squeeze and pull. cant remember its been awhile Edited November 21, 2011 by KenC210 Quote Kids Cadi Power Wheel Build2007 Ford Escape Build2012 Toyota Corolla Build 2013 Toyota Tundra
503Innovation
I have had some fords that the spring clips are messed up so bad the only way was to remove the factory radio face and bend the clips back. Its a common problem with factory ford radio's.
