What is the benefit of the "space spider" option for the 18"?

it might be that the spiders are spaced, rather than say 4 or 5 layered together. It helps keep the coil stay linear under high excursion and power easier iirc.

So it will make the sub use power more efficiently? If so, cool. Id just like an FI rep to confirm

How would this sub compare to the old ufo style btl 18s those are the ones i have now. Would these new subs be a much better sub for low end and power handling. How would this sub compare the the SMD 18? any help is greatly appreciated?

Based on all the talk

I almost want to think of it as a BL on roids...minus the 100's of differences of-coarse.

Loudness is no substitute for musicianship, and partial deafness is no badge of honor. I was once able to hear this advice.

None the less, the N3 has a higher bl, 500wrms higher, and a higher spl. For the application I think the n3 will work better, however the higher fs is the only draw back, but that has never stopped me from playing lows with DD, and the FS will change once the spiders loosen.

Not to mention the wait time for the sp4 12s...

really? I ordered my btl like a week before! I still think they will be close to the same as the spl rating is a little higher on the btl still. I emailed nick and he let me know that they basically made this sub because the neo magnets were getting too expensive and they were not making any money with them. The N2's will probably go up in price a good bit soon.
