Run active or no?

I got a sweet deal on some Eclipse SC8365 3-ways & I'm wanting to run them active but not sure on what amp, crossover, etc. to use & wanted to figure out everybody's opinions first.

I was thinking of using this amp - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_37765_U.S.-Amps-XA-800.4.html

Running the woofers in parallel for 2 ohms but not sure what crossover to use & running the mid & tweets through the factory crossovers in the normal 4 ohms.

And for some references here's the factories crossovers.

Woofer - Low Pass - 1400

Mid - High Pass - 1400, Low Pass - 5k

Tweeter - High Pass - 5k

12db/Octave High Pass

6db/Octave Low Pass

Any help/opinions are appreciated.

Active is the way to go if you want to do it right the easy way in a car. Passive to me is tonally more pleasing but the added time delay and slight EQ settings make it a winner.

Here is a rough guide all speaker and user preference dependent.

Also note that Eclipse a 3way setup is tweet-mid-sub and not tweed h-mid mid and sub as some might indicate.

DD guide

Subwoofers: 30hz Subsonic to 80hz Low Pass

Midbass: 80-250 hz

Midrange: 200-3,000 hz

Highrange: 3,000 hz and up

Careful with the tweeter though as not all tweeters are wide band many will only be happy at 5k up (also slope dependent).

you need more than 4 channels to run 3way active

You need to add a 2 channel. And that factory LPF for the woofer is really 1400?? That sucks lol.

you still need more than 4 channels to run 3way active. also, bridging reduces the number of channels you have available. you need 6 channels of amplifier power to run 3 way active.

Id set the sub channel to flat. Many amps such as the sundowns will let you run active.

I'd run them passive and "if" you're not happy then consider active. I run active in both cars, but only because I like swapping mids/tweets now and then...

http://www.audioque.com/AQ4X90-Amplifier_p_33.html use that for your tweeter and mid range. then find a seperate amp that can power your mid bass
