Box too small?

Sheena

Recommended Posts

I just got my Skar Audio VVX 12"s about an hour ago and i was wondering if my box was too small? it sounds like its distorting at an estimated 5-700 watts (guessing, no proof)

the amp is a brand new Hifonics Brutus 1200.1 and im probably getting about 13+ voltage on stock electrical.

am i retarded and just need to let them break in? or rebuild time?

box specs:

Height: 15.5

Width: 37

Length: 18.5

Port:

Height: 14

Width: 3

Length: 23

Displacement: .36

#of common walls: 3

3.78 NET

31.66 HZ tuning

I possibly do have loading issues for one of the subs, about 20% of the sub has the port wall behind it (not right behind it, but at least 6+ inches behind it)

if i missed anything just ask

any ideas?

your sub sonic should be a few hertz below tuning, 15 is way too low, try 27 , 28 ish

, that alone will help

Really? I heard subsonic isn't exactly right on and that it could rise 5+hz (I could be wrong)

After this movie I'll go turn it to at least like 23 (or where I think 23 is)

I listen to rap mostly so I want 25+hz open

1 ohm nominal (dual 4s) measured on the amp at 1.1 ohm with the amp off

Head unit at -4 bass (goes to -6 and is set this way because it controlls the door speakers

Volume (37/40)

Gain at half on the amp, I really hope it's not clipping, I heard the amp does at least rated

It is a stock head unit, but I did a direct swap with the subs in the same box. (went from .24 displacement @ 800 Wrms (2 subs) to .36 displacement @ 1200 Wrms (2 subs))

2009 Honda civic ex, seats down, firing forward NOT sealed off for now. I know, face the box towards the rear until sealed off, but RATTLES. Louder than the music sometimes.

Anything that I'm missing?
