Guest
that light isnt 100% accurate, just a heads up. but what do you mean its clipping all the time. like if the knob is all the way down or up it clips regardless? all that knob is is a gain reducer. nbshazeezee
i probably dont have the filters set right, but its clipping on the higher 40's mostly, doesnt really clip when its too low. But I am not able to give it the gain i should be able to give it without its clipping. Im giving it like half gain at 2ohms, and its clipping Ye dig, getting loud off little (2) AQ HDC3 12 AQ 2200D - Replaced it, Works great AQ4x90 JBL 662s 2 ways (2)XS 5100r under the hood & A 170amp alt
pa-pa-platypus
how did you set ur gains? and 2 ohms really doesnt make a huge difference... a clipped signal is a clipped signal This isn't teeball. YOU DO NOT GET A TROPHY JUST BECAUSE YOU SHOW UP. Put the work in and then maybe get the respect when it has been earned 151.6 with single 12 at 41 hz 153.2 with 2 12's at 43 hz power: dd m4
matt14
It doesnt matter if you wire to .5 or 8ohm. When your set your gain, your done. The clipping indicator is not accurate from what i understand. Ive heard of people tuning with the DD1 and the clip light on there knob stays on all the time. Find someone local how has a DD1 or at least a o-scope to help set your gains, or buy a DD1. Its really a good investment. 2006 GMC YukonPioneer HU SHCA ran throughout Crescendo BC3500 One 18 AA Mayhem in a 4th order ZED Levithian 6 channel Rainbow Dual 6.5 comps ran Activehttp://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155628-matt14s-yukon-mayhem-in-a-4th-ordernew-amps-and-bats/page-
icewall
I have a similar situation with all my aq amps. seems like they should put out more power before they clip, very strange. btw, thats with or without a scope and with or without the remote hooked up. (tried it all, including wiring from .25 to 4 ohms and everything in between) (owned a lot of amps over the last 10 years but first time I had this problem and I own 3 aq1200d's so its not some fluk)
AMI CUSTOMS
If the light is blinking it isn't clipping just giving you a warning, if the light is on solid then you are clipping. Mine are dead on with my oscope. Mine also have been pretty close. I thought they were off at first until I realized a solid light indicated clipping and not the light period. Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
