you might want to find someone local to you with a oscope or dd-1 and see if there willing to set your stuff, flip them a twenty, never know until you try. atleast at that point youll know when your head unit distorts and your gains are set correctly.

If the amp is capable of 8v pre-in than 1/2 gain would be close to where you would need to be so just adjust the gain to where you would think that the input voltage would match your 4v input. Now that will get you close but you may still soft clip due to being a tad bit over on the gain but better than way too much gain by just turning the knob and thinking your close. This still does not answer the question of the high pitch noise though, does it still do it or was it a one time thing.

Did what happened only occur once or is it continuing?

More information is needed to help you.

I turned the gains way down to 1/4 up. The high pitch noise coming throught the subs only happen after i was playing my system for a hour only half way on the deck.
