My lil bro wanted me to design a box for his 12" Kicker CompVX for his Convertible Sebring. He wants it to sit as tight into the back of his trunk as possible so he would have some trunk space. On the kicker site it says 1.75cubes MINIMUM ported for that sub. here is what his trunk looks like.

I would like the flush it with the front of the step down section because it would look good, but there is only about 1.25 cubes net there. Any suggestions? or should i build it to look good and let it sound like it will.

sealed? or move to an 8" if thats possible

either way i doubt he will be satisfied with the outcome.

tell him to donate more space or its going to sound bad and be a waste of time.

well he doesnt like to spend money so he isnt gonna buy a new sub. the specs on the website for it says minimum ported box should be 1.75cubes. Does that include port/sub/bracing displacement. I run DC and they tell you how much space the sub displaces. but Kicker doesnt. I want him to upgrade to something better but he is fine with it. He is a 1 set up and done kind of guy. lol

i found this on ROE through googling from a guy with 1,200 posts and 118 rep for CVX 12" Displacement.

ROE:

NET DISPLACEMENT 136.8 in3

Yahoo answers:

Displacement: .06 cu.ft

Kicker website:

http://www.kicker.com/sites/default/files/2010%20CompVX%20e01.pdf

and kickers website says 1.75 cubes, thats AFTER all displacements, bracing, and port.

i say build a 1.75 cu net ported box and see how it goes.

Your best best is to go to lowes or hd, buy a angle finder. Get the angle of the back seat and build a wedge enclosure using a 4 in PVC pipe for the port. That's is what I have done in the past and it works perfect
