Bussbar/Dual Input Question

Recommended Posts

My plan is to run 0awg from my batteries to my aluminum bussbars(using like a distribution block), then 0awg from the bars to my amp. I have only six oawg inputs on the bars and 4 need to go to the amp. So two wires from battery to bussbar, then 4 from bussbar to amp(not fused).

Sketch of what I plan. This is only the positives, there will be a bar for the negatives, too.

Will this work right? Or does having only 2 wires from the batteries negate the affects of using dual inputs?

It'll work fine. The double input reduces resistance in wiring slightly. There probably won't be any difference between using 1 run or two over such a small distance, but a little extra wire can't hurt.

ive never done anything like this, but it would seem like going from 2 to 4 is almost a waste, but that would depend on lengths of the wire also.

That's kind of what I was thinking. The 2 runs are about 18", the 4 runs are only a few inches. Might just try to stuff all four runs into the wheel well, straight from battery to amp.

Yeah I'd fuse between the battery and bar. If you're only going a total of about 20 inches you might be better off just using 2 runs of + and ditching the dist. block, All those extra connections will be a bit of a pain.

Don't use bussbar there's not enough inputs..go directly from battery..your chokeing amperage going from 2 to 4 its defeating the purpose..

X2, the 2 runs are longer than the 4 so its completely pointless, the amount that can go through 4 is limited by the 2 long runs.
