MIKE-2U Posted December 18, 2011 Report Share Posted December 18, 2011 So i was thinking about this on my way to work today. I own a Pontiac g6 and the stock radio was replaced with a avh-3200dvd. The stock radio have a dic(driver info center), and you could buy a radio kit for a single din only to keep those features. What does everyone think the new stuff will be. will the new aftermarket radios use dic's or will manufacturer make radios to allow us to easily add on , such as rca input and usb jacks? just want some opinions. thanks. It would give more of a sleeper look. But i hear all the time that they are trying to make it harder to swap out headunits? why? why would they care if we change the radio out? Wife's ford escape came with a 6 disc changer and is notorious for eating cds. The stealership quoted me $500 for JUST the radio, not the install. she now has a Pioneer DEH-6300UB in her car. Scion and some other manufacturers who have RCA outs don't use stock units. Last scion I did was a 2010 TC with a double din Pioneer deck which came stock from the factory and with some car makers that have premium sound packages or just want to market the car to a younger "hipper" crowd use Pioneer, Kenwood, Eclipse or Clarion for their stock decks anyway.
