gold or platinum plated?

Recommended Posts

I have knu ofc and copper lugs soldered that connect to gold plated xscorpian battery terminals.. and used electrical tape around the soldered connections from the power wire to lug. Now I am in the market to redo some little things and get rubber blus rubber boots to macth the power wire and want to dress up and tidey stuff up. But my question is, what is the difference between gold plated and platinum plated ring terminals and battery terminals? Which is better? and I would like to know if either of those are equivalent to copper lugs or is copper far superior because its conductuity values?

Info much appreciated. Thanx

Where does platnium come into play with the conductivity between gold, silver, and copper?

^this!

I thots that was the case but where would you fit platinum?

**another one I forgot to mention is, are brass and copper same shit, conductuity wise?

Well if you want to take science into this Platinum would be the best because it has the most free electrons to transfer electricity. Gold, silver, and copper all have the same number of free electrons but the quality of metal is different. In my opinion it is:

Platinum, Gold, Silver, Copper

Copper is used most because it's cheaper, not because it's the best.

i pulled out my dick in class many of times and had it shown. get over it bitch...stupid open legged hairy beavered bitch...

going over rms = smaller box, under rms = bigger box...

Low voltage doesn't blow amps. That's a myth.

A router that does the sub holes makes rounded edges also?

The corrosion on silver is still highly conductive.

copper is cheaper still but still tarnishes.

gold is plated on due to cost, and can tarnish. (most think gold doesn't tarnish) but it will

What about mix matching? ie. I have gold plated battery terminals, copper lugs.?

What would you guys rather do.. I would like to keep things kind of matching so am thinking... platinum batt terminals, platinum ring terminals (which come with the blue rubber boots I want) or keep gold terminals and copper lugs, and I am goong to buy the blue rubber boots to match the wire any who..

It sounds like you haven't heard of shrink tubing before... it's awesome in my opinion! It comes in a range of sizes to fit over almost anything. This stuff will shrink to around half of its size so it will tightly wrap connections. It is also very durable to heat and other elements. I had rubber boots on my wires, but I think this looks much nicer and is safer. I'll see if I can get a picture of it in action on some 0 gauge wiring.

By the way, they have this at Home Depot for super cheap. I bought a ton of it!

EDIT: The shrink tubing that I used was 3/4" and it is pretty snug on my Kicker 0 gauge wires. The picture is pretty bad quality so hopefully you can see it okay.
