To FUSE or NOT to FUSE, that is the question?

Recommended Posts

Specifically, what I am talking about is fusing between the amp, +4k size amp that warrants the need for a battery bank, and the battery bank. Thanks for all the discussion thus far, more is welcome!!!! So fuse or not between batt bank and amp.

i would NOT fuse that wire. power wire between rear batts and front batts/alt, yes, in case there's a cut in the wire. it can take almost double the amp rating to pop the fuse in a short circuit situation tho so even for its intended use its rather worthless

I am considering NOT fusing the 4 pos runs to my 7.5k. The batteries are close, no sharp edges between batteries and amp, I don't know. If I wreck bad enough to pull/break wires and cause a short, I can just claim it as a total loss with insurance. Got personal insurance coverage for my system.

if you flip and roll your batts will be the least of your concern, lol

im more worried about frayed wires shorting at the input terminals then somehow within the length of the wire
