Can an aq hdc3 take as much power as a fully loaded fi bl? Also what would work better with about 1200 watts going to it?

It would be a waste to get a sub that can take 3+ thousand watts to only put 1200 through it. You would be better off getting a lesser sub and putting the saved money into other thingd

I might upgrade the amp to a 2000 watt one in a few months.

Copper coil HDC would do well on 1200watts. Just because it can take more doesn't mean you have to feed it that much. I'd go on the big side for the enclosure if you go that route.

No idea what a BL is rated for, but I'm running an AQ1200 on the wife's Q with no issues.

this..even if your throwing clean power at it if youre box design is off than you can still end up blowing the sub
