ShAdOwSpEcTrUm7 Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 Okay, I have two of the new RE XXX 18s and a Sundown SAZ-4500D. I have the electrical to run the amp at 0.5 ohms and would like to do so provided the subs can handle it... Would I be better off running them at 2 ohms? What do you guys think? Quote
will77530 Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 just run them at 2 ohms dont risk it if your not sure its a costly mistake if it goes wrong Quote
TeamHT Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 Details and specs to the enclosure? Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
ShAdOwSpEcTrUm7 Posted January 1, 2012 Author Report Posted January 1, 2012 Details and specs to the enclosure? The enclosure is going to be 14cf after displacement tuned to 35hz with 17in^2 of port area per cf. Quote
Socky Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 I wouldnt do it with that big of a box, i would just run it at 2 ohm, maybe if the box was aroung 6-7 cubes then yea i would say go for it. Well each sub is only going to be seeing 7cf if that makes a difference... They are separated, so its technically two 7cf enclosures. I apologize, I should have made that clear earlier. Socky Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 oh, i thought you would only have 1 sub, but if its two, they should handle that power with ease, may i ask, what is your electrical that you have already? I have a 270 amp alternator (about 215 amps at idle), 4 XS Power D3100s and a Big Three upgrade using 2/0 wire. Quote
LoudBimmer Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 I don't have any experience with this subs, but box seems to be way too big. Quote
Mad_Mike Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 The subs are 2000 RMS, and that amp does 4500 at 1 ohm.. So at .5 ohm it will probably do well over 6k if not more. Sundown only recommends it going down to 1 ohm.. I wouldn't risk that with a $2k amp. And I definitely wouldn't risk giving those subs 3k+ rms if they are only rated for 2k RMS. You should have got the dual 4 triple x's. If you can.. send them back and get the dual 4's! Quote
