Need 6x9s

Recommended Posts

Okay, umm..yeah. I decided I wanted to play this song called "Flexxin" and...didn't realize how loud it was...due to my hat and hoody being on...and by time I realized it...I had a pile of smoke in my car...blew the tweeter and mid range out. So I'm looking for a new 6x9 brand that will be able to handle 400 rms of power. Amplifier: PPI PC2100 Precision Power.

I appreciate all suggestions. - Trying to stay away from Rockford and kicker brands...I just blew a pair of rockford primes. Been looking at hertz...are those speakers good? I heard they could take a beating..

Do you want one set of speakers that handle 400w RMS? If so, those will be hard to come by. How much power does your amplifier put out per channel? If all 4 channels added together equals 400w @ 4 ohms, I'd say look into the Focal PC 690 or the RE FR series 6x9s. Hertz speakers also seem like they will be a good choice if you want them. There are many options for you to explore.

I was putting well over 150w to mine and they handled it quite well but at times i would smell the coil from excessive power so i would have to back off a tad to get em to cool off again. Good sounding speakers for the price that can handle gobs of power, but like all speakers they have their limitations also.

Ah okay, I'll just go w the polk audio, I was looking at some polk audio 6.5...it'd be impossible to run this amp to just two speakers...it's just too much power so I'll split it up...or sell it and buy a 4 ch amp. after all the amplifier was from the 1997s....

So polk audio is good for interior speakers? because I heard a while back they blow really quick...

and what's up with 5 way 6x9s?

New build coming soon.

i have all polk interior speakers for highs all on rated or more rms and i give them the heat everyday and they preform like champs. have had them all for a year now with no issues and krystal clear highs. not even a smell of burning glue or coil. only thing is since they are very shallow in mounting which is a main reason why i chose for front doors and they have neo mags which are cool but I feel they are lacking in mid bass. they arent bad. I added 2 DD midbass woofers anyway so it wasnt a concern for me but they get pretty damn loud. enough to leave my ears ringing for a while if i blast them long
