Its a 2.5 inch coil you're going to be at the very tippy top of what they can handle.

go with something thats a little less. like a 2000rms amp. would be very well on those SA 12s...

I could always use a dmm to set the gain to get it to put out about that much. Thanks for the recommendation

The thermal stress on the coil would be high, not saying it can't be done, but I wouldn't do it my self.

For reliability you should look at no more than 1k each. I would even run them that high. Sure people have one it but for how long. Most people putting dumb power too them sell things off every three months

Haha, good point. I'm not one of those guys either, my setups need to last me at least a year. Time to start shopping around for some subs then....went ahead and picked up the amp cause the deal was just too good to pass up.

had a buddy running a sundown 3500 to his 2 sa 12s at half ohm daily, they took the beating, i wouldnt see any problems with them handling 2500. just make sure the gains are set good and you should be alright.

Exactly what my thoughts are on many other questions that are similar, people say how they have put x amount of power on something and it taking it well, but for how long?

I pound music very hard continuosly daily when i ride places on all of my past setups and on subs for example like kicker cvx, skars, i always comment on what my experience with them are since i abuse the stuff for a long time and TRUE daily. All of my setups i keep for a minimum 1 year unless its equipment i already know about previously.

True daily dont give it more than 800-1000rms.

I had a saz3000 at .5 ohm on a pair and it took it fine. Didn't even get stinky. Just make sure your gains are set right.

Yeah when i start asking questions about wether i should buy a certain sub, i always want to know what abuse it can take daily continously, hell even with slight clipping as well since my main purpose for bass is that when i get in to my cars, i instantly turn up the volume full tilt and i want to know realistically what a sub can take daily for hours and months...

meh had mine on my 3500 for 3 months, sold them to k3n12ock cause i upgraded to the z12v.2s, he had his on 3000d @ .5 daily, sold them cause he upgraded to XLs about 2 months later, then the same woofers were ran on a saz2000d @ .5 for about 3 weeks which btw took first in class in rookie 2 at tnespl finals

subs are still being ran today, since march when i originally got mine.. thats going on 10 months now, so they saw 3k+ for a good 5/6 months

but normally, a single 2500 has been the most common for people to run to them, you shouldnt see any issue if its clean power

however most importantly, a proper subwoofer enclosure, preferably larger than 2.6 cube box

i understand whee you are coming from. You dont want your subs to go bad. But i feel like you are picking your subs quite harshly. I feel like you need to pick your power then pick your subs. Dont get some subs and then find out the MAX power you can give them before they are on the verge of blowing. If you are going to use that many variables in choosing your subs just run them at rms and be happy forever. It might be less power than you want to run but your subs will be safe. If you want to run alot of power just get subs that can handle it easily. just my 2 cents.

im my application i am putting subs together that can handle more than my amps can put out because i want some room to grow after a while... but thats just me i guess.
