mwjustic Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 right now i have 2 15 re audio sxx's hooked up to a kicker kx1200.1 and i already have serious voltage drops. when i upgrade my amp i know i need a ho alt. my only problem is i have no idea what size i should get? also i have 2 yellow top batteries just laying around can i use these for my battery bank rather than buying something else? any and all help would be greatly appreciated. 2005 ford explorer xlt limited 4x4 2 xs power d3400s 2 runs of shca mid/ highs- infinity 6x8 3 ways 2 18 ssa icons 2 aq 1200.1 @ 2 ohms 10 cubes tuned to 36 hrz
That1Kid Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 You need a good agm battery under the hood, and then yes, you can use the yellow tops...although they would not be ideal. Do the big 3 in 1/0, as well. With all of that, I can't imagine there would be much voltage drop, if any at all...with the 1200.1 Depending on how much power you are upgrading to, you may need a high output alternator. 99fullsizechevy Posted January 16, 2012 Report Posted January 16, 2012 4kw is going to be pullin around 350 amps itself.. Depending on what alt you get will determine your battery bank.. Generally a large yellow top is good for like 1kw each I think when added as secondary battery's.. So keep in mind you going to need to support around a 400-430 amp current draw.. Btw there is a section for electrical so general audio is not the place for this thread.. Laying frame soon.. System has to wait
