IzzyRamos Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 so i gotta a 18 fi q , i noticed the other day as i was playing a song that always hit real nice..was alil off..i check the sub out its playing fine but kinda sounds like the box split..then i heard a big bang and a horrible noise..i was like ok my sub blew up..i go open the trunk the dust cap is blown in half and theres a huge chunk of metal sitting in the middle of my woofer the voice coil was smashed n bent..so come to find out the chunk of metal is the bp option that seemed to come loose and destroy everything!!..has this happen to any1 before??? it looked like they wasnt even glue on it

You probably didn't set your gains correctly. What amp are you using? You have bottomed out the coil since it is destroyed at the bottom. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

You have bottomed out the coil since it is destroyed at the bottom. thats the thing there is no glue where they meet..look at the pics there is no glue ,i have a mmats 3000.5 turned 1/4 up i been doing this for years it was in a 5cube box tuned @ 30..had nothing to do with my gains..i had this woofer for 3 years never got warm never smelled burnt coil never abused it..then the sound changed i thought my box split it was like a rattle then the slug come bursting out the dust cap
