Using resistors to get the right ohm load at the amp

You could also just wire one voice coil. Using a resistor would just be wasting any "extra" power anyway.

You don't want to wire just 1 coil of a dual coil speaker, if that's what you meant.

I can understand the obvious answer (it was designed with two, so use two) but the other comments made above made me think there was more to it than that. In my mind, using just one would be better than using two + a giant resistor, but I never claimed to know anything. :)
