So this summer I think I would like to rip out all the Fatmat in my vehicle and go another route. My goal is tomb like silence

Now it is a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer so what will it take to get there if it is achievable.

maybe I can start saving up so I can have everything in place for summer.

Second skin spectrum sludge for your undercarriage and floor then one of the second skin damplifier on top of that and all Ibsen evrything else doors, trunk, roof, ect. Then you throw down some second skin luxury liner and then you will be dead silent.

You can throw overkill over any other rattles you might have after all that.

Personally, finances available, I would SS the fuck out of it. Every layer available, possible, imaginable... I'd do it. That's just me though.

Yea, I was just looking at all the products on the second skin website.

I guess mostly I an wanting a product list and prices to achieve my goal.

I am thinking I will need probally two shop packs of Damp Pro but I have no Idea on Spectrum sludge and the damper mat stuff.

What is the coverage on the Spectrum sludge if I go 4mm thick

Last thing I want to do is get to the end of the project and not have enough

Also I heard they make different types of door seal's and window seal's to make things more quiet

A multi layered approach would be the best method.

A bit of sound deadener, some mass loaded vinyl (this is what will give you that luxury and tomb like silence), and a bit of foam or other cushioning for the trim and BOOM! Silence. ;)

I use a crapload of damp pro 4 layers

Then luxury liner

They spray glue on rattle pad to the back of every panel

Our crx is dead silent

Has about 5 bulk packs in it

24 sqft of luxury liner and 24 rattle pad

I dont care for the sludge really

It works but only in select spots otherwise it doesnt make sense to put it there.

I say 3 shop packs and 48sqft of luxury liner

And 36sqft of rattle pad will do ya.

I would get 3 gallons with the extra additive they have and that would give you plenty to do in and out. They have 3 or 4 different damplifiers and 2 luxury liners and 2 different overkills. Take a look at the site Jus remember it goes sludge-damplifier-lux liner and then overkill

The main goal when shooting for quietness is proper use of each product, especially the barrier products (Luxury Liner/Luxury Liner Pro).

Sound deadener (liquid or mat) will help eliminate or lessen structural borne noise and resonance but wont do a whole lot in terms of blocking sound, so exhaust, tire, road, and even engine and transmission noise is rarely ever dealt with entirely with just sound deadening, it's too thin and doesn't have enough mass to it.
