Robert8252
So. Not a expert on deadener but I've had my fair share of installing it, uninstalling it, cutting myself, burning myself, all of that fun stuff.. Right now I have a mix of Damplifier and Audiotechnix. Finally got around to installing a layer on my trunk today since the weather warmed up a bit. Honestly, it sounds a little better inside. But gawd damn it still sounds like shit outside. Trunk just looks like its breathing. Any tips? If I put say 2 or 18 more layers on will it keep helping? Have had my system sealed forward for the past year and a half and haven't had to worry about the trunk rattles until now. Here's a vid. Camera didn't pick up all the rattles and flex that well for some reason. Not that sunny out today. OrionStang
My trunk is the same way. Two layers of Damp Pro and still looks like a balloon at times. Go back to sealed off. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
Robert8252
I would but I hate how hot my amps got in the summer. I don't care if people say its normal but my DC 3.5k and Audison 2.9 were easily in excess of 2-250 degrees on the outside on hot days sometimes before I even turned the car on. Plus I like how it sounds rear facing better. And I don't think I could fit three 10s sealed forward without some body modifications. Second Skin Rep Jon
Two questions. 1- What areas are treated with the sound deadening? Full trunk (floor, lid, rear quarter panels, rear deck, etc.) or just a few areas here and there? Are there any areas untreated? 2- How is the trunk's weather stripping? Quite often us folks with trunks get screwed because the trunk is the weak spot for SPL... so we have to get really creative. Quote Have a question about Second Skin? E-Mail me! Robert8252
As it sits I have: Rear deck top and underside. And parts of the trunk floor. Haven't done the quarter panels since im debating using spectrum first before deadening. I know the quarter panels and bumper cause a lot of the vibration noise on the outside. But I do plan on more deadener. Just wondering what can actually help the trunk. The trunks seal is in pretty good shape. Replaced it a little over a year ago but it is the stock one. Edit: trunk lid has one solid layer. masterbusa2
Would spraying bedliner before deadener help? Im considering doing this since I have no carpet as it is

( cheapest i found on ebay) and they did the trick.. even on the hottest days the amp stays relatively cool
Second Skin Rep Jon
Bedliner, not a good idea. These products are designed and made to be durable, not flexible or elastomeric. They cure much too hard and are not effective for reducing vibrations. The MOST they will do is add some mass and we all know that mass loading it's very effective for reducing vibrations. So I wouldn't suggest using bed liner. If you are looking for a durable "finished" look without adding carpet, then bed liner wouldn't be a bad suggestion, just don't expect too much in the sound deadening department. Robert8252, your best bet would be to finish treating whatever panels in the trunk need addressed and then assess the situation. I would not recommend using more and more product on the same panel and hope it fixes it. Another thing that I thought of and I've seen help, adjustment and tightening up of the trunk lid and it's hinges. Take a look and see if anything has loosened up.
