Okay so I'm not sure what is up with facebook, but I've been having a hard time uploading my pics. I've been having to do it the old, slow way the last 2 days. Maybe it's not them, but my computer instead? I need to install a fresh copy of windows and start from scratch, I think that would help me out with all the problems my system is having lately.

Anyway, on to the pics. I didn't get near as much done yesterday as I'd like, for one because I keep underestimating how long each step takes. And also, it's been super humid the last few days, and it's been messing with me, and the curing of the resin.

So the first thing I did was to remove the plugs

And clean up the edges with the dremel

Then, on the other panel, I had to remove the staples and cut away the extra cloth

Then once that was done, time to remove the plugs and clean the edges on it too

All done, ready for the first layer of fiberglass.

First layer done. I had all kinds of problems with this layer. For some reason the resin was setting up SUPER fast, didn't matter how much hardener I used. I wasted at least 20oz of resin. But I got it on there, I'll just sand between each layer to make sure we keep those sexy curves!

The other door

And that's where I'm at today. The plan is to sand down both panels, and try to stretch what resin I have left to do a layer of glass inside. Then I will be pretty much stuck on the doors until I get paid on Thursday, then I can get more supplies. Need another gallon of resin, bunch of sand paper, and some good body filler. Think I'm gonna buy some Rage extreme this time. I'll probably finish up the headliner, and start wiring this week also. Hopefully.

So anyway thanks for lookin', check back later for more!

It's not you, facebook keeps updating their god damn site and every time they update the damn thing it causes more problems. JUST LEAVE THE SHIT ALONE!!! Neither my wife or I can now get on from our phones at all! And if we do get on, if someone comments on a picture we posted, we cant see the comments. EFF FACEBOOK!! IDIOTS! Mark Z has been too busy getting married to care about the site!

On to this, nice work! Just curious, why didn't you leave the plugs in to glass? Just wondering, it seems like maybe it'd be easier to keep the insides clean while going through the glassing process. Keep it up, they're looking good! How many more layers you planning to do?

Well, I thought about that, and almost did leave them in. But I figured if I left them in, they would be that much harder to get out afterwards. Also, the dremel tool makes cleaning them up pretty easy. And last, they had to be removed in order to glass up the insides. And the window plug had to be removed right away to avoid making an edge around it, and glass all the way down.

The plan is to do at least 2 more layers outside, and a good solid layer inside. Then I'll do a good layer of Kitty hair, followed by multiple layers of filler. I have a TON of sanding ahead of me! I may have to get more hands on deck for this part...

And thanks for the compliments! :drink40:

Nope. I almost pulled the door panels yesterday to get a look at the metal behind them and make a cutout but I decided not to. It was a loooooooooooong weekend and I was exhausted. I put an old head unit in my civic and some speakers in the rear, only had fronts, and am getting that fixed up to sell. Besides that I was doing projects around the house all weekend. But I may pull them this next weekend. I don't see anything on the schedule, but I still have so much to do around here. SOON, VERY SOON! It's driving me nuts not to work on it.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I really appreciate it! I didn't get to work on them much today, got them sanded a little, but then it started raining on and off, and I was stuck. Plus I'm out of resin, gotta pick up another gallon tomorrow, along with more sandpaper, and a few other things. I'll update soon as possible!

And a big thanks to Steve for posting my build on the SMD facebook page today, very cool, thank you sir! :drinks:
