97Jetta1637 Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 Well, after my last post of discovering the problem (over powered -.-) I decided I'll hold off on the pioneer subs. Well, I'm looking now at a new build for my car, and I've narrowed it down to, 3x kickers or 2x fosgates running off of a 1000 watt amp. But I have three questions, I was reading I wont be able to wire the kickers to the amp because they're 4 ohm subs on a monoblock is that true(confirmation would be greatly appreciated!)? Next, if it is possible, in your guys opinion which would you take? They have the same cone area (24"), the 12s hit lower notes, but from what I've read on reviews all across the web, kicker has a better bass sound. Lastly, if the kickers wont work, would should I get along the price range of 100$ per sub for 8s? The 12s wont change, I already made my decision for those. basshead8569 Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 I never heard of an amp not being able to take 4 ohms. I have the kicker 1000.1 amp in my girls car. It is monoblock class d with subs running 4 ohms off it for months now. No problems. And it depends on which kicker and rockford you was looking at. I have kicker dcvr 12" in my car and then rockford p2 12"s in my girls. To me my kickers sound better. But, the rockfords arnt that far behind them. Be a personal there. just noticed the links. Sorry. Either one would be a good choice. Be what do you think you would like. Current system (still building) 2 kicker 12" dcvr in factory kicker ported box, Rockford Fosgate 1200.1 Amp, Kenwood ddx-470 ddin radio, Rockford Fosgate 0 Gauge wiring, Rockford Fosgate punch 6X8 2 way speakers.

Not gonna bother explaining it since I'm not at a computer right now. And how the sub sounds and plays is almost completely dependant on the box that its in. Why do you want 8s AND 12s?
