IKnowImLost224 Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 I just used my DD-1 to set my amp gains a couple days ago and my amp was starting to distort/clip pretty quick. In general terms, what causes that distortion or clipping and what can be done to help reduce/prevent it, or does everything have a clipping point? I just ordered new RCA's so i'm going to start there.

IKnowImLost224 Posted February 2, 2012 Author Report Posted February 2, 2012 Yes I followed all the instructions. My deck started clipping at 61 out of 62. So I set my deck at 59 to be safe. Then did my 4 channel and didn't have a problem. But when I was setting up the BAMF it started clipping between 1/4-1/2 gain with LPF all the way up and subsonic and Bass EQ down.

I was just wondering where the distortion is coming from. RCA's? Amp? Will it distort less with a better amp or RCA's?

IKnowImLost224 Posted February 3, 2012 Author Report Posted February 3, 2012 Well I plan on looking into a new amp. Want to get something that does around a true 2000-3000 rms @ 1 ohm for a decent price. Was looking into the Hifonics Brutus amps, any opinions on those?
