Has anyone here gone to UTI/MMI?

Recommended Posts

So I feel like its time I start getting my shit together and going back to school. I tried college but hated the academics so I dropped out.

I went to a technical high school so I would love to go to a trade school but I have a hard time picking what to do. I love working with tools and getting dirty so I feel like I would anjoy any of them so it comes down to job demand and money.

I was looking into UTI/MMI and I was curious if any members here have gone to this school since they have campuses around the country.

They have:

Automotive

Diesel

Motorcycle

Marine

and all of them are sponsored for factory training based on the respective field for example Harley Davidson, Honda, Ford, BMW etc

So to anyone who did attend-

Was it worth the money?

What program(s) did you do?

How did you like the school?

and any other info you feel is helpful would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance :drinks:

Both of my brothers went to UTI and they spent like $35,000 on tuition and they both dropped out for various reasons. And they BOTH regret going. I think they were just really let down with the teaching they recieved, and hearing how difficult it was to obtain work after they were told from the recruiter they would be working making top dollar before they even graduate, blah blah blah...

Good luck with whatever you do man!

Maybe look into some appreticeship programs? I hear ya on not wanting to spend too much, and I'm not sure what the tuition fees would be in your area, the one my brothers went to is in So Cal so they might be a lil inflated compared to other places but I dunno.

My buddy went to UTI and didi the Ford program and got hired right out of school. He had like $50,000 in tuition but he got a job to pay off. He said the best thing to if you go is go into a dealer program like Ford, Audi, BMW and not do just the basic or you'll end a oil change boy like some of the guys he works with. He makes decent money but could make more in a bigger city at a bigger dealer. If you go to any school get training in an advanced field like a brand specific or trans specialist that way you got a better chance of getting hiered and better pay.

It's like rubbing your wiener up against a sheep.

If you plan on going to something specifically automotive, then expect to pay. And if nothing else, make sure to find a program that will help you get your inspection licenses. I go to ATC right now and my PA inspection licenses are the only things helping me find a job.
