osage
I currently have two 12" Kenwoods in a sealed box at 500rms each. The system is in a Tiburon and I recently removed my rear seats and essentially made the entire back area into a flat surface. With the extra room I want to add in two more 12"s. I would be using the exact same subs and another identical amp for the addition. What I wanted to do was build a new ported box for two of the subs and then another sealed box for the other two. I want to keep nice tight bass that I have with the sealed box, but also have more punch and pressure like I would have with a ported box. carshateme
I don't see a problem with it, although it'd sound a lot better in a ported box all together. *NO QUOTING* Quote New build coming soon. alaskanzx5
i see no issues there. should put the sealed box upfront and the ported box in back then swap it around to see what placement for the boxes soundes best to you. osage
That's that I had planned on. The ported two would be under hatch with the ports facing the back. Then the sealed box closer to the back of the front seats. Here are two pics of the box in sketchup. The first pic is of the box from the back of the car, the second from the front of the car. n8ball2013
I think you have a misconception that porting will make your bass sloppy. It is not the case. port all four be happy. ZachAdams
port all four and be reasonable when calculating port area and it will be as "tight" as you could ask for. Quote -Zach- '88 K5 - '01 cbr929rr
Loudcivic
did you read the post above you? your idea of the sealed vs port is all wrong. depends on what you want out of it. my 18 is tuned in the lower to mid 30's and i still have my tight bass as you called it. i can throw on some metal and all is good. may not have the output of a higher tuned box but it plays very well on heavier music. the difference is the sealed box there is no tuning as the ported box you would tune your port. build a ported box for just one so you dont waste a lot of wood and see how it performs. you will be much happier with all 4 ported than 2 sealed and 2 ported.
