97explorer whenever idle in park or in gear the idle surges about 100-1200 rpm difference from a normal idle down to almost dieing. at night i can watch the headlights dim everytime the truck surges. when the truck is driving normally theres no surging whatsoever, just when sitting still.

Any ideas.

I would maybe it was Alternator issues, idle air control valve, or Idle Speed

Control relay. Though maybe someone else may have some idea.

Vacuum line lose? My mom had a mustang and a guy put a new A/C in it and knocked the line loose, it drove just to our house then when she went to turn it on it did something like that. It didnt shift out of 1st though, unless you went from 1-2-Drive, but it was on an automatic... Found the line, plugged it in and it ran perfect after that...

My caddy did that, it was the isc motor. When you look at the throttle body is the plunger pushing the throttle in and out? If so take the motor appart and check the gears and if you're lucky you can just buy a rebuild kit.
