Make a hole. Drill out an obstruction free area and throw a grommet in there. Good to go.

Or look for any place where the main wiring harness runs through to the engine compartment.

No problem man. In some cases, drilling is actually the easier and safer option. If you tried to force two runs of 1/0 through an existing grommet with other wires, you could rip some other wires loose, tear the grommet, short to ground, start a fire, burn your ride, start a shit ton of unwanted anarchy. Just drill them and get some grommets or small PVC pipe and secure it to the firewall for a clean run.

I'm not sure if it the same on a 97 but on my 93 transam I ran it on the right side of the car, where the battery is, up behind the strut mount there should be a black box that's held on with two screws, take that box out and there should be a big grommet there, run your wires through there and use some silicon to seal it back up then push the wires of to the side so you can mount the box back up.

  • 4 weeks later...

I may be a little late but there is a grommet on the passenger side under the PCM. not sure if you can squeeze 2 runs of 1/0 through there but that is the only accessible (not easily I might add) grommet that is most commonly used.
