Best way to connect to a projector?

Recommended Posts

Go with Composite. Just be sure to use quality cables. HDMI, being a standard, the cables within the particular standard will provide the same signal. The main benefit of HDMI is cable management and support for high quality sound (bitstream).

But he won't get HD if he uses composite but he will if he uses the VGA cable.

Sorry, terminology. Component will do HD (RGB 3 RCAs) not Composite (Yellow single RCA).

Yea it's real nice at 120", but if I go any bigger then my lumens drop way off, that's one of the trade offs with a homemade projector compared to the higher quality store bought projectors. But my lamp last for 25,000 hours and only cost me $35 to replace :D

When you say homemade, is it built from the ground up? any pics of it?

Yessir, you have to take an LCD computer monitor and strip it to just the bare LCD panel, and put it in a box with a metal hallide lamp and a few lenses: here's a few pics of the build:

Yea it was a real fun lil project, and I was very impressed with the results. If you go to www.lumenlab.com they have a forum with a wealth of knowledge on how to build one, but there is a lot that goes into it, so be prepared to do some studying! Lol
