call me a noob if 90% of you already know this but i couldn't find anything about it on this site or the net so here it goes.

I'v been beating my self in the head. I'm blowing these tweets with in the first week of installing them i have gone threw 6 sets of tweets. (yes i used the dd1 and the cc1 to get everything set right) running them off a t400.4 so only 76 rms per channel at 4 ohms so i knew i wasn't over powering them and no distortion yet I'm blowing them really fast. so anyways long story short i called rockford fosgate and they told me that when you have them set up to a single amp and have them set to all pass the bass loaded songs will go threw the cross overs and blow the tweets for the simple fact they cant handle those sound waves. (i though that was the job of the cross overs to filter out the sound waves for those speakers but i was wrong according to rockford fosgate)

rockford is switching me out with new ones so no worries just annoying and figure i would give anyone else the heads up

rockfords recommended settings are as follows

switch crossovers to bi amp and run the tweets off the front channels and the 6.5 midbass off the rear channel (besides this is better for the rf amp users out there on the t series 4 channel amps have the bass knob option but it only controls the rear channels) thus solving my problem and possibly someone elses!!

Thats weird when you set the amp to full range the external crossovers that came with your comps are supposed to block that bass going to the tweeters, in my experience they have anyways.

Crossovers do not 100% filter out frequencies. Most crossovers will attenuate a given frequency at 12 db per octave. That means given enough power, you can send damaging low frequencies to your tweeters. If your amp has a high pass filter I would turn it up as most components are not made to play anything under 80 hz.

Full pass or high pass have zero to do with you blowing tweeters.

amp on full range - check

passive crossovers - check

active crossover on deck - check

yes passive crossovers normally do there job but it never hurt to have a back up plan. i normally run my active setting on the deck just below teh midbass cut off of the passive unit. its a little insurance. for the mid driver. however i have never seen an issue with a tweeter. if you have blown them up then you have had to hear them distorting. a dd-1 and a cc-1 will not stop stupidity. not saying your stupid just saying there is a point where those units can't save the day.
