Wassalla
Well my friend has a high mileage 01 grand cherokee with the 4.0l inline 6 and she went to start it and it just would turn over and not fire. But she said her dad was able to start it by mashing on the gas pedal, and drove it home. He thinks it is the fuel pump, but i highly doubt that, but would it be something like a clogged screen or filter inline or something totally different? JEMT8
Try starting it off starting fluid and if that's the only way to get it to run, could very well be the fuel pump. Check the fuel filter as well for shuts and giggles. Quote formerly known as Jaylor Swift

95legwagon
could be just a fuel filter clogged imo..... maybe even a clogged injector. i had a 94 cherokee that would do that sometimes too.....i always got it started like that. also i would check vacuum lines for leaks as well as the intake manifold. having a vacuum leak will cause starting issues because there are alot of sensors controlled by vacuum amongst other reasons lol good luck! Quote i think there real i was looking through that guys stuff he sells and it looks like he finds stuff at auctions and just sells it Yea, it looks like someone got the mids about a month ago....shit. Wassalla
Okay thanks, her dad was just gonna replace the fuel pump, but i had my doubts it was that because he was able to drive it home after "not starting"
Baydestrian
That doesn't matter lol, when my fuel pump was failing in my Caprice I had trouble starting it, esp hot starts, once it started though it was fine. cvxsmitty58
throttle position sensor could cause that. I had mine go bad. Some days id have to mash the gas to get it to start, others it would idle at 2.5k.
