Sheena
Currently i have a BRZ1200.1 and it is just awful on my electrical system, great amp otherwise. my question is (for better efficiency reasons) should i ditch the BRZ and go with something that offers a better efficiency (at around the same power)? or upgrade my alt and keep the BRZ. if i go with the "other amp" i cant get the alt and it will be used on my stock electrical system (80 amp alt and a stock group 51 battery). ask questions if you need to, also my budget is $400 if anyone needed to know for whatever reason. SnowDrifter
1. Upgrade your battery to a yellow top or something. 2. Have you done the big 3 yet? 3. What size wire do you have going into the amp? HatersGonnaHate
X2 on them being power hungry as hell. I'm stuck on the same debate though... Keep my hifonics amps, get an h.o. alt.... Or ditch it for a Crescendo or AQ. I figure, the best thing to do would be to get your electrical on point first, it's one less thing you have to do in the long run. Our stock Honda alts suck ass btw lol, so I'd say get the new alt, upgrade the amps later. notorious97200
1 batt or 2 big3 work on all the grounds can run 0 Ga wire if you want; just have to use a reducer before the amp for 4 Ga (T or Y splitter, don't know the right word). Will be better if you want to run a second amp later (for your mids & highs). Quote black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp OEM head unit, Amplifiers : Audison AP 8.9 amp with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200. SnowDrifter
It doesn't matter what amp you get. At the end of the day, you don't have the electrical to support 1200 watts - power hungry or not I would suggest you fix your electrical first. At a minimum: Big 3 Get the biggest AGM battery you can fit under the hood Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Sheena
i would much rather do the alt than a battery.. cause batts still gotta be charged up, and my alt already isnt doing that. Sheena
but yes, the big 3 will be ordered with my next purchase, cause if i get the alt i gotta run 1/0 for it and i'll do the big 3 while im down there. or if i get a new amp i need 1/0, so i can do the big 3 while im down there. i was already leaning towards an alt because even with a new amp my voltage will still be awful..
