ALPINE408 Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 I just make one hole an oval so you can put the allthread in at an angel just one side then you can get the whoel allthread in there fill the whole big ass fener washers done I've done this a few times on builds where the box could not go in with all thread on tight fit hard to explain in text Have you ever had your woofers blown?

Blackedout Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 My logic might be flawed, but I'm really not seeing that coupler being a weak point in the design in any way. The only reason I say that is pretty much summed up in a picture like this. If a coupler is good enough for a job like the picture above, I don't see why it wouldn't be good for an instance that will never see over 200 PSI in its life. Trunk Build Log

OrionStang Posted May 9, 2012 Author Report Posted May 9, 2012 Where the metal rod touches the wooden dowel at 90 degrees, you can wrap a bunch of fiberglass to connect the two. That will absolutely prevent the metal rod from bowing up and down. They are actually further apart than it looks. I might think of something though.
