To horse racing.............I have known a few jockey's and horse trainers in my day. Are they ran? YES are they trained? YES. But they are VERY well taken care of, not abused, and the trainer's take better care of them then some people do their own kids!!! Its a NIG differencer from dog fighting. The purpose there is to run the horse as well and as fast as you can, not to make another animal suffer and quite often die.

the gambling BS i can somewhat understand...I mean hey, i put down some money on a fooosball poll w some friends and its technically illegal (on a much smaller scale of course). However, what Vick did to those dogs is dead fucking wrong.. In my composition class weve been talking about this subject very in depth. What Mike Vick did was wrong, yes. Immoral, yes, Smart, no. But then you can take this entire situation and stack it up against a more common problem in america, say child abuse/molesters and it doesnt compare. A child molester charged with as little as 2 years in prison once convicted alot of the time an released prior to that. Then is released into society, but is "monitored" by letting the neighbors know he's living in the nieghborhood. No further punishment from then on. Out to strike again. Yet on the other hand, Mike vicks punishment was brought down so severly because PETA got involved. PETA believes that we should change the history of the world and people should stop eating animals. Even at one point, going in public and handing out fliers to children whos parents wear fur coats saying "Ask your mommy how many dead animals she killed to make her fur clothes." I'm not sticking up for mike vick at all, what he did was stupid... But you have to remember, it was dogs. Has anyone considered the countries who breed children to fight to the death? Why aren't they taken over by this American superpower, blown up, rebuilt by our second greatest asset, haliburton, and shown how to do things? Maybe we can send some PETA rep's over and convert them to vegan's too! My entire point is the 2 years+ future charges is a bit extreme and unjust compared to >or = to crimes.

its not even the dog fighting that put me over the top......i mean some people are just savages and thats the way it is. Dog fighting is bad enough but at least its dog vs dog.....i mean its not right and the damage can be severe but it doesnt sound as bad.

For a HUMAN To actually torture and kill the animal by drowning or electrocution is absolutely barbaric and he is getting what he deserves. At least when he gets out, he will still be rich whether or not he plays again so i dont feel sorry for him. When i went to jail many years back for just a few months, when i got out i had NOTHING. He will be ok....but he will do the time (especially being federal time).

has anyone here ever had family dog that got so old you had to humanely euthanize it (aka put it to sleep)? To me that is one of the most painful days of my life having to do that so for someone to kill an animal in cold blood as it suffers is beyond anything i can begin to understand.....

and you guys with your comparison to other crimes and punishments need to stop, last time i checked, just like me, you arent lawyers Like i said, if you disagree with the punishment, call your local congressmen.
